Master water plan is off base

Resident concerned with the process being followed for water in Greater Vernon

I suppose Greater Vernon residents do not remember the good old days when we received our drinking water out of Kalamalka Lake and the irrigation water came from VID.

In my opinion, this master water plan is nothing more than an ill-conceived joke on the Greater Vernon taxpayer when we would put filtered, treated water on to the land for irrigation purposes at the cost of millions of dollars.

The domestic water user is only responsible for 20 per cent of the water usage but is charged an arm and a leg for water.

Now we are supposed to go to Interior Health standards at the cost of millions of dollars more for filtration.

If this present water is unsafe to drink, why are we allowed to consume it? Maybe the taxpayer should look at this from a legal stand point of view. When is the last time a person got sick or died from drinking Greater Vernon water?

Due to the high cost of water, which is right up there as one of the highest in North America, they want another 20 per cent increase to the water rates which will lead to less consumption and less revenue for the water board and continually higher rates to come because of less revenue.

I do not know what the politicians in Greater Vernon are drinking for water but I believe it is affecting their brain cells.

In my opinion, the people that are involved with Greater Vernon water and Interior Health remind me of bureaucrats sittng on the deck of the Titanic and trying to rearrange the deck chairs before it sinks.

Again, in my opinion, these bureaucrats who are involved with Greater Vernon, if you took them down to Kal Beach, not one of them could lead a horse to water. I repeat, not one of them.
