Mayor’s efforts aren’t making a difference

A mayor should be righteous, trustworthy, and above all must be totally transparent.

To the Editor,

Re: Mayor leaves meeting day after conciliatory speech to council, March 24.

If Nanaimo Mayor Bill McKay believes that his ever-so-inspiring and uplifting speech will, as if by some magical miracle, not only rally the city councillors, but also the citizens of Nanaimo, to bring divine unity against the evil dark forces that are still continuing to economically devastate Nanaimo, much similar to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill’s speech during the very darkest times of the blitz of London by the Luftwaffe, he is not only not really living in our real world and is most certainly way too self-delusional, but also overall he has just way too much self-grandeur for even a simple Nanaimo mayor who instead should be righteous, trustworthy, and above all must be totally transparent, but he is very obviously not, because we are very unfortunately still getting that same old political propaganda jive talk with a song-and-dance number. It’s now time to change this broken-down ’80s record.
