I received Michelle Stilwell’s flyer in the mail the other day. It’s a pretty standard piece of political puffery.
There are the usual pictures: Michelle in the Canada Day parade, Michelle in front of the entrance to Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park, Michelle working on a tile for the Canada 150 mosaic … and the usual electoral stories, most of which have only tangential, if any, direct reference to the candidate’s work in Victoria. As I say, nothing beyond what one would expect from any politician during an election year. But this flyer was not without its surprises.
My first surprise was the obvious expense that went into making this slickly produced piece of electoral advertising, almost equal in size to four pages of the PQB News. My second surprise came after having read it. Given its obvious election function, the “L” word was no where to be found. It makes one wonder, is she trying her best not to remind people that she is a minister in the current Liberal government?
Congratulations to the printing company for producing such an excellent piece of print work. I just hope she has a local benefactor who is helping her with the expense. I’m hoping the money is not coming from the Liberal Party, whose coffers are full-to-overflowing thanks to Christy Clark’s “Pay-to-Play” fundraising dinners.
