Movie night to aid Japanese disaster victims

Raft River Grade 7 students have re-dedicated a fundraiser for a field trip to collect money to help victims of the earthquake in Japan

Editor, The Times:

The first fundraiser for relief of Japanese Earthquake/Tsunami victims will be a movie night at Raft River Elementary School. The school and the PAC had planned to have this event for their Grade 7 students year end trip but then found they have already enough from the other fundraisers and changed the purpose to Japanese aid only. Thank you, Raft River Elementary School!

Yuma Fujikawa and I will place a donation box and a message board as at the entrance during the movie night. The message cards are made by all the Raft River students to show their supports to Japanese children who have suffered in the huge disaster. Please come to see the message cards that the students wrote their names in Japanese and then make a generous donation even if you are not interested in the movie. We are still thinking of other fundraisers for the same purpose in near future.

Here are the details (from school web site http://raft-river.sd73.bc.ca/).

Raft River Elementary School will host the movie night on Friday, April 8 starting at 7 p.m. in the gym. There are limited tickets and proceeds will be going to a Japanese relief fund.

The movie showing will be “Tangled” and tickets are $5 or $15 for a family pass. We hope to see you there!
