The North Cariboo Multi-Centre is a project I’ve spent a lot of time on over the past months.
Much is being done behind the scenes.
To bring the community up to date, the city and Cariboo Regional District northern directors are hosting an open house on April 12 in Council Chambers at City Hall, 7 p.m.
You can always visit www.quesnel.ca/multi-centre.html for the most recent information.
Land Stability
The West Quesnel Land Stability Project received final approval of the environmental assessment phase.
We’ve now sent all the documents to Western Economic Diversification so we can get a funding agreement and work contract in place.
Once we have a final work plan in place and the contract signed, we’ll start working on a public information campaign and a meeting for residents.
You can also get more information online at www.quesnel.ca/WQLS.html.
Japan relief fund
A quick reminder and encouragement for you to visit the Integris Credit Union, where you can make a donation to the Shiraoi-Sendai Relief Fund.
Also keep an eye out for donation boxes, located throughout the community.
Cancer donation
I’d like to thank West Fraser Timber for their generous, $1 million contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society’s Northern Lodge project featuring 36 beds for patients at the new cancer treatment centre in Prince George.
Fire open house
The CRD will host wildfire information sessions throughout the region in partnership with the Cariboo Fire Centre to allow residents the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification regarding emergency operations and wildfire management.
The North Cariboo meeting is April 5, 6 – 8 p.m. in Council Chambers at City Hall.
Couldwell honoured
Please join me in congratulating Coun. Peter Couldwell for receiving the BC Community Achievement Award.
This is a well-deserved award for a lifelong member of our community.
He and his wife Elaine have contributed significant volunteer hours to help
raise more than $2.8 million for a variety of community causes.
Congratulations Peter!
