N. Cowichan ignoring what residents want
I really don’t believe North Cowichan really cares what people want.
They have their own plans and what people want doesn’t matter. They have proved it time and time again; they have no respect for the taxpayers. The forest on Gilana, the houses that were put [there] never telling the buyers that they were going to develep that parking lot in their backyard and now they are for sale. The mall on Berkey’s Corner, they find needles in the soccer field and now a hostel, more needles — have you not learned?
Now you want to build right next to the kids’ soccer field and you will say, oh it is not like that one. Over 90 needles were found but it is not near your house. Mount Prevost school parking is a mess, [the] road [is] being blocked every day. There should only be parking on one side of the road, but it seems that the teachars own that parking lot.
We have town meetings and they are supposed to be listening to the people in those communities but I see no proof of that. Name one project that was canceled because the people said no. It seems like you get elected because you were going to fight the people and then what ends up happening is you end up saying very little so you don’t lose your postion and the people lose what they voted for.
And that is the end of [what] used to be our neighbourhood.
