Wayne Neville (Letters, March 14) makes an incorrect statement about natural health products.
He states that manufacturers of natural health products are “not required to provide robust evidence that a product works before it’s allowed on the market”. This is untrue; Health Canada imposes strict regulations on the natural health industry and manufacturers ARE required to show all sorts of evidence of efficacy and safety.
Please visit the federal government’s website on natural health products to verify this and other such statements that can mislead the public about regulatory affairs.
