To the Editor:
I was driving behind a dairy truck on Oct. 12. When we were going through Creston, right near Truscott Farms a woman was frantically trying to make her dog stay where it was. She was across the highway at the time. I guess the dog had gotten out and tried to follow her.
The big dairy truck in front of me didn’t even slow down or stop — he just ran right over the dog. I saw the whole thing happen.
I pulled over, and the now panicking lady ran over to her dog, leaned over and started screaming, “She’s alive! Someone get her to the vet, please, someone take us to the vet!”
The neighbours ran over and took the dog from the woman’s arms and rushed the dog up their driveway to their truck. A woman in a green apron and I were trying to calm the lady down — she was hyperventilating badly — so once she was able to talk I had to get going. My son, Sutton, was screaming in the back of the car because he had no idea where I went.
I really hope her dog is OK. I want to phone the company and tell them what I saw, but I don’t know which milk company owns the truck. I couldn’t see the advertising on the sides of the truck, but the back of the truck said, “We cry over spilled milk,” on it. I really want the driver responsible to be held accountable.
