Last May, more than 11,000 Langley voters (among 4.5 million Canadians) voted for Jack Layton and the NDP. Many were members of the Federal NDP.

On March 24, thousands of people from across Canada will choose the next leader of Canada’s Official Opposition and possibly the next prime minister. The Federal NDP leadership selection process allows one vote for every member.

If you’re not yet a member but would like to participate in this historic event, you have until Feb. 18 to sign up. You can do so at leadership2012.ndp.ca. Click on “Join the NDP” and an application form will appear. A membership costs just $10.

We need a strong leader in Ottawa, someone who shares our interests and values, someone who will speak out on protecting our environment, our pension plans and healthcare.

You can help make that happen, but don’t delay.
