New Duncan roundabout accident waiting to happen

I must agree with the letter from Gail Montgomery printed in last Friday’s paper and others on the subject of the proposed roundabout at the top of Government and Cairnsmore. The money would be well spent fixing all the roads around Duncan, the pot holes are everywhere.

As a resident who has to use the roundabout at the bottom of Gibbins Road each day I see the majority of drivers do not know how to use the approach or drive around this roundabout. The vast majority of drivers took their test before the roundabouts were introduced to Duncan and I don’t think they have ever looked up the highway code for the proper procedure.

I don’t believe we need another roundabout so close to each other and the lights at this junction work very well. I am worried this is an accident waiting to happen if Duncan city council go ahead with this plan and the money allocated for this project could be better spent elsewhere.
