No complaints from patient

I am writing this letter primarily for the citizens of British Columbia who, for one reason or other, seem to take some satisfaction or delight in criticizing our health-care system.

On March 27, upon visiting my surgeon, it was determined I had bladder cancer and an operation was urgently required. This was confirmed by a CT-scan April 3. By May 27, I was in the operating room at Peace Arch Hospital.

I can truly say how pleased I was with the outcome, thanks to Drs. Peter Skepasts and Herman Kwan, with lots of kind words and support from Nicky. This was a major five-hour operation, with two hours in the recovery room and I was on my feet the next day. I cannot have enough praise for the staff at the Peace Arch Hospital. The nurses were truly angels, namely Debbie, Karen, Preeti and Martini. Also many thanks to Margaret Chalk, who had the patience of Job.

Thank you, Martini, who sat in on her first operation, and then made sure she came to see me every day.

The food was pretty good, too.
