No health care costs

Re: Our bottomless health care system (Health Care, March 2).

I was quite intrigued with the column about health care and the spiralling costs to all Canadians.

I am a senior, 91 years of age and I live in a townhouse in Maple Ridge. I pay my health care premiums every month.  I occasionally have an appointment with my doctor. He always finds me in top health.

I have not been on any prescription medications for years, nor has my 91-year-old wife, who has Alzheimer’s and is in full-time care, which is paid for out of her pension income.

We are both using safe, effective, natural-based nutritional supplements, as we have for 33 years, from the same supplier.

I am disgusted that under the HST requirements of the Liberal government, I have to pay 12 per cent tax on all the products that keep us healthy, and costs to the health care system to zero.
