To the editor;
The announcement that U.S. President Obama is considering charging Canadians for crossing the border came as quite a shock.
I thought our “relationship” was the envy of many other countries but evidently not that important to the President.
The outrage of Canadians I read from media reports and internet chat lines is very real and very deep.
During 911 Canadians displayed their best side, opened the airports and their homes to aid our neighbours to the south.
We desire to maintain and improve our open border, not turn it into another “cash cow”.
I hope that President Obama realizes the damage that this has done to our “ideal” friendship and apologizes to all Canadians in the very near future.
Friends don’t treat friends like that Mr. President.
