Dear editor,
On Feb. 11 a dog entered my yard on camera chasing a neighbour’s cat.
The end result is the dog got my cat and killed it.
I phoned the City of Courtenay and told the bylaw officer what happened. I was told someone would contact me on Friday, three days later.
Animal control showed up on Friday, looked at the video then said they would be in touch. Since then, I have located the dog for them but nothing has been done to date.
Now, they have a bylaw in place for dangerous dogs. Section 10 says that a dangerous dog would be impounded and the owner be fined no less than $500 and no more than $10,000.
I am at my wit’s end living with the loss of my best friend and nobody is doing anything.
What I’m hoping to see is that a dangerous dog is out there and something be done so no one else has to go through this.
Lorne Halme,
Courtenay
