Summer’s here and Parksville Qualicum Beach’s peace and quiet gradually ends as once again the crackling roar of un-muffled motorcycles reverberates throughout the suburbs along Highway 19A.
These high-powered motorcycles are in clear violation of B.C.’s Motor Vehicle Act, as caring constables should know.
There’s no need to acquire expensive sound meters for our police, only a will to enforce the law.
I would gladly provide all patrol cars with a broom handle. As an ex-police officer said, if the handle can be pushed past the length of the so-called muffler, the required baffles are missing and violation of law is proven.
I’ll end with a thank-you to the operators of all motorcycles who use real mufflers in good repair. The peace and quiet you leave behind is most appreciated.
