Not wanted

If the prison becomes a reality in Lumby, its location would be practically downtown, overpowering the businesses and homes that were there for many years.

Why would the village council do that to those people?

The businesses in that area would benefit from the sewer and other services upgrade but in the long-run, they will lose out on property values around the prison as the property would become almost worthless.

This prison would only be about eight blocks from downtown.

When we had the first meeting in Lumby, Mayor Kevin Acton said there would be 200 inmates. Now it’s 360 and by the time they build this prison, it could be 500 or 600.

It’s starting to look like HST. And will they have a courtyard and will it be in plain view? And will it be a drug-free prison and will people bring drugs to Lumby?

I would sooner pay 10 or 20 a month more in taxes than have a prison here.
