Kinder Morgan has been given final approval of their pipeline expansion. And both the NDP and Greens oppose the project.
OK. So. All the blather and talk of these two leftist parties will be put to the test. How serious are they in trying to stop the pipeline? One would think with all their vociferous opposition to the project they will stand on their principles. I mean, to hear them talk, they are the only ones carrying principles these days.
What can they do?
Well, they could signal they will introduce a bill/motion into the legislature expressing their disapproval of the project, requesting the federal government cancel their approval of the project and have the legislature vote on it. Or they could introduce a motion/bill demanding a renegotiation of the agreement the Clark government signed with Kinder Morgan.
One would think the two parties would have to do one of those things in order to retain any semblance of credibility with the taxpayers of the province. Otherwise, who is to believe anything they say?
It is one thing to cry from the rooftops against government policy when in opposition; it is another thing to actually follow through on all that criticism when you have the opportunity to do so.
