Oak Bay council: do the math

Council unanimously agreed to cull the pests months ago, yet nothing has been done.

In our area the rutting season for deer is very soon. In November.

The fawns are born in May.

Presently, we have a huge problem with deer devastating our gardens. Council unanimously agreed to cull the pests months ago, yet nothing has been done.

Council, do your math. By May 2014, the deer population in Oak Bay will be at least double what it is today. That is a biological fact.

Each advancing year the deer population will be double what it was the year before.

That is the nature of negligence. Ignored problems don’t go away. They fester and get worse.

In my 50-plus years of living in Oak Bay, there have been some great councils.

Regrettably, this is not one of them.
