Kudos to Mayor Terry Rysz for his open stance on the complex issue of the Stomp as reported in the last Eagle Valley News.
Over the past few months we’ve seen increasing intimidation on both social media and, more recently, at district councilmeetings. While it is understandably a contentious issue, it is important to measure in an unbiased way, the will of majority ofthe residents of our beautiful community. The dismissal and active bullying of those who are against the Stomp, make manybusinesses and individuals reluctant, and even fearful, to speak up.
I appreciate that our mayor takes his leadership role seriously and, in choosing to remain neutral, he encourages a healthierenvironment. Now we need objective exploration of the concerns surrounding the event and a way to tally opinions withoutfear of reprisal.
Online surveys, combined with in person voting at the district office for those more comfortable with that process, will allowcouncil the information they need to make the decisions that represent the majority – not just the vocal.
