To the Editor,
Re: ‘Happy holidays’ includes everyone, Letters, Dec. 18.
You can tell Bernie Smith I am one of those “bent out of shape religious types” when it comes to ‘happy holidays’ or other similar meaningless sayings.
Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ – hence the name – get it?
For the many years I have been on this Earth, it has always been ‘merry Christmas’ to me and my family, or, in Ireland where I was born, ‘happy Christmas’.
I will not patronize businesses which choose to wish me ‘happy holidays’ or ‘season’s greetings’ either by word of mouth or advertising.
Thankfully, this year I notice a lot more ‘merry Christmases’ than ‘happy greetings’ or ‘season’s holidays’, or whatever they are trying to convey, and I thank those who realize it is what it is.
