OUR VIEW: A very Merry Christmas

Thanks to our readers — for all of us at the Peninsula News Review, you are a special gift and we want to acknowledge you over the Christmas holiday.

Readers of the PNR are an active bunch — often keeping our letters pages filled with local opinions that help shape stories you read in your local community paper and even, dare we say, shaping policy within the corridors of local government on the Saanich Peninsula.

Feedback from our readers is often immediate and abundant, both in print and online at the PNR’s Facebook page and for that, we are thankful. We encourage people to continue letting us know what’s making news in their world on the Saanich Peninsula. Editor Steven Heywood and Reporter Devon MacKenzie are looking forward to staying busy in 2014, telling the stories of local residents, keeping abreast of local issues and contributing to the overall prosperity of Sidney, North Saanich and Central Saanich. Publisher Jim Parker and Sales Representative Adam Somers look forward to working with the business community to help spread the word of all that the Peninsula has to offer.

At this time of year, we would also like to remind our readers to continue thinking of others. Our Coins For Kids campaign to date has raised more than $2,300 and we are still accepting coins of all kinds until the end of December. People have been generous to us and to community efforts at the local food bank and the Toys for Tots campaign. We hope that this spirit of giving in some significant way continues throughout the year.

Most of all, the staff of the Peninsula News Review wishes each and every one on the Saanich Peninsula a Merry Christmas.
