Parking donation feels like a fee

I totally agree that this is a silly, money-grab idea.

So on Canada Day, you can’t park down at the park at all and now the last few years you have to pay to park for the sandcastle weekend.

I’m sure it was someone clever who thought of another way to nickel and dime people. I know it goes to charities and makes the town look good, but it just kept me from going that weekend. Maybe that’s the idea: make the tourists pay and the locals will wait and go later and pay their $3 to view the sandcastles, not for parking.

With a community of elderly and disabled many can’t walk down to the park.  Perhaps the idea is that people will exercise to get there, but I’m sure it’s not fun for families to lug their lawn chairs, tired kids, towels, coolers and beach toys a mile either. And if it’s a donation, don’t make it sound like a fee.
