Pedestrian access needed at Spencer Road

'Investment in infrastructure that promotes healthy activities like walking and cycling is crucial to ensuring a healthy community'

I have lived on Florence Lake Road for 20 years. I first learned of the Spencer Road closure when I read the Gazette recently.  I am concerned that the closure of the crosswalk will inconvenience many people.  I used the intersection daily myself, and while I do not mind taking a different route in my vehicle, it seems the many people who used the crosswalk will now have difficulty getting to where they want to go in a timely fashion.

For those who walk or bike that crosswalk is important. I saw students walking to school using that crosswalk. I am astounded that the closure would happen without first building a pedestrian overpass.  That is absolutely necessary and practical, and should be a priority.

Investment in infrastructure that promotes healthy activities like walking and cycling is crucial to ensuring a healthy community.  I hope Langford will show some leadership and get this done, whether that means tapping the province for funds or making this a priority for the municipal budget.

It is simply necessary.
