Editor: Are some people that insensitive to other species’ lives that they would drive over a dead animal? What is wrong with these people’s thinking and attitudes? An animal which appears to be a rabbit was hit early Thursday morning before 8:30 a.m., and has been flattened by repeated motorists driving over his or her dead body. Would this occur if the dead body was someone’s cat?
This occurred within half a block of Willoughby Elementary on 80 Avenue, a site notorious for callous driving behaviour. Are some people so uncaring or arrogant, or both, to believe that humans are the only species on earth who values their lives?
It’s springtime and wildlife activity will increase. Please drive with caution, particularly at dawn and dusk when wildlife may be crossing roads in developing and rural areas.
