Personalized letters encourage voter participation

We just didn't understand that these folks, possessing great intelligence and high morality, only had our interests in mind.

Editor: After receiving several personalized letters from some of the current folks aspiring to be re-elected, I needed to take a moment to reflect on the way I observed the system at work in recent years, as pertains to the role of elected council and staff.

From these letters, and of course the large spreadsheets espousing their various great endeavours, and their leadership qualities, it appears that those of us that wasted our time at the standing room-only protests, making lengthy presentations, distributing signs, etc. to point out some of the horrendous faux pas approved by council, just didn’t understand that these folks, possessing great intelligence and high morality, only had our interests in mind.

Had we  just stayed home, and trusted their intent, we would have had the same outcomes. After all, they all love Langley so much. The new OCP for Brookswood/Fernridge, and the final plans for Willoughby as a liveable community, Fort Langley developments and the Trinity Western university land swaps would have been efficiently resolved to the satisfaction of all concerned without all the bother.

If all of us got these nice letters, I’m sure Canada Post will have balanced its budget this year.  If nothing else, they have certainly encouraged me to vote  for all of the grand reasons the letters indicated. I hope they have had the same effect on all of Langley’s eligible voters.
