Dear editor,
It is the end of an era at the Comox Valley United Soccer Club. After many years of dedicated service, longtime coach Steve Betts and longtime team manager Pam Lariviere, are stepping down.
Steve has been coaching for over 10 years, molding and shaping a core group of players into what is now a polished and talented U18 select team. For many years, at every level, the Comox Valley Wolves have seen much success under Steve’s coaching and Pam’s managing.
However, Steve’s lessons to these young men transcend the soccer pitch.
Steve Betts is proof that it takes a whole community to raise a child. Not only has Steve taught the Wolves about the intricacies of soccer, he has nurtured a classy group of young men who conduct themselves in a courteous, professional manner both on and off the field.
Steve has left these young men with a set of life lessons that they will never forget. Many of us have had people like Steve Betts and Pam Lariviere who impacted us greatly during our formative years.
We can all think of a coach, teacher or family member who impacted our lives in ways that will not be forgotten. Steve and Pam are those people.
I wish to publicly thank Steve and Pam for the lessons they’ve given my son. Steve and Pam will be missed and never forgotten.
Roger Collin,
Comox
