I would like to bring to the community’s notice that we still do not have a police station that we can be proud of.
Why doesn’t the council and mayor get off the pot and clean up the land where the old Coldstream Hotel was situated and make this into an area that we can take pride in and call a police station?
We already own the property and so no cost to get it.
This area will give the RCMP a good two-storey building, large covered garage, large fenced and secure parking lot. It is still close to the downtown, city hall, court house and has great access to the area.
The officers will have offices and rooms from which they can perform their jobs the way it is to be done.
We have been talking about a new police station since I came arrived here in 2001 so now it is time.
They will have a large and better detainment area for prisoners.
Then the council and mayor can enlarge the city hall so the employees have adequate room, something they also need.
