Pool access

I am writing in response to the article I read in The Morning Star about Vernon public pool access.

I agree with the article about concerns over pool access, and share serious concerns about access times the public has to our pool.

I was in swim clubs growing up and we always had practices early in the morning, before school.  This is pretty standard.

It is the public that pays for the wages and upkeep of the pool.

Shouldn’t the public have access to the pool at the prime usage time?

Vernon population demographic has changed I’m sure, and more and more young families are moving here.

It is for the betterment of Vernon and its sustainability, yet the city really does not do much for this population. Not only is there a severe lack of playgrounds, families can’t even take their kids swimming.

The toonie swim is ridiculous, because the line-up is on to the street, and the pool is so crowded at that time it’s impossible to enjoy it.  My family and I have basically stopped using the pool, but it’s a great shame.

It’s clear Vernon needs another public pool facility, but until that happens, the public swim times need to be addressed so the public can actually use it.
