Editor: Good for Langley City. It can afford a $2.3 million renovation to the Al Anderson Memorial Pool, but the Township can’t find a couple of million to refurbish or replace the Aldergrove Lake pool.
This is a pool that they knew, years ago, was falling into disrepair, but the powers that be chose to ignore the needs of that pool and let it fall beyond repair. This has resulted in the demolition of the pool.
I’m sorry I was unable to attend the meeting regarding the future of Aldergrove Lake. Some of us work afternoons and/or evenings. I would have liked to hear some of the comments and suggestions.
I’m hoping they (the comments and suggestions) will be published and not hidden away, so those of us who were unable to attend can review them, digest them, and make comment on them.
My property taxes went up this year, but the value of my home didn’t — so where are my tax dollars going? It would be nice to see an accounting of where our tax dollars are going.
I believe our council (like many others) has stated that it intends to be transparent, so it should be open to being held accountable for where our money is going.
It would be nice to see that breakdown before the next municipal election, as it would help us to make an informed decision when we elect our next council.
Hmmm, let me think. Didn’t the mayors just vote to increase the gas tax by two cents? But that’s another story.
