Preoccupied

The B.C. Liberals have been in power for more than 10 years.

The B.C. Liberals have been in power for more than 10 years. During that time, our forests have been decimated by pine beetles and our infrastructure has been pillaged by metal thieves. Did our provincial government react by planting a sufficient number of replacement trees? Have those self-proclaimed guardians of free-enterprise enacted legislation to effectively target dishonest scrap metal dealers? Absolutely not.

In spite of the difficult economic times, Premier Clark decided a provincial holiday in February was more important (and that’s only because she thinks another holiday will somehow help her get re-elected). Planting more trees would have been an investment in the future, something she obviously doesn’t care about. Setting up a small task force empowered to bait and punish unscrupulous scrap metal dealers must be too obvious for a government preoccupied with its own survival.
