Private sector power better value

Anyone claiming renewable electricity from independent power producers will be more expensive in the long run than electricity produced by new projects built by the public sector is just plain wrong.

Both the past and the present show us the private sector consistently provides better value for money than the public sector. There is simply less waste and better budgeting in the private sector where financial accountability is stricter and deadlines are firmer.

Considering this reality, we should all hope BC Hydro is willing to partner with independent power producers in the near future. This would ensure the energy is produced without wasting money so the price of electricity can be kept low.

Not to mention we don’t have to be exposed to the risk. This means ultimately, when private-public energy agreements are made, it is the taxpayer who is the winner.
