Editor,

I am a frustrated handicapped senior looking to solve a problem at the handicapped parking areas at the Overwaitea Store in Nakusp. The frustration has been building over the past few months when trying to park in one of the areas and finding vehicles in them without a parking permit. Not only am I handicapped, but am the caregiver to my husband who has to walk with two canes or a walker with guidance.  I cannot leave him in the car during the winter months and he can only walk a short distance at the best of times.  We have several handicapped people in the area and they to have voiced their frustration. I would ask the people of Nakusp to respect the posted signs at Overwaitea or if handicapped, buy a permit. They are very inexpensive and are good for a 3 year period. The RCMP have been notified of the problem and a fine is a possibility.  Please be aware if you have been one of the guilty ones, and I thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Jean Rigby Fauquier
