I like many residents of Oak Bay have decided to support Cairine Green who to me represents a new fresh voice on Oak Bay council.
I am also a long time supporter of the NDP provincially and federally. In an email sent to me by the NDP as a member I should be voting for only the NDP members that are running for city council. Why? That is ridiculous.
I have done my home work and I as a free citizen will ignore this directive from above continuing to vote otherwise.
It is high time the provincial government stayed out of our municipal elections.
With some of the candidates heavily endorsed by provincial parties how on earth are we to get new blood into our councils when you have such an unfair advantage?
I sincerely hope that your readers will elect who they truly believe can do the best job and not just do as they are told. Please this election judge the candidates on their beliefs and values not what provincial parties they belong to.
Let us start a movement to take provincial parties out of our municipal elections and experience true democracy.
