Pump prices are pure profiteering

Editor: Is anyone out there as outraged as I am about the absurd price of gas at the pumps? There is only one word for this — rip-off.

Most of us are aware of how the system works.  The gas that we are presently pumping into our vehicles, was arranged, bought and paid for several months ago, at several months ago prices.

Supplies must be procured well in advance, because it takes some time for that gas to actually end up in the holding tanks at your local gas bar.

The reason that the oil companies are giving for the huge increase in price over the last month is the Lybian political crisis.

What utter nonsense.

The reason is very clear — profiteering, pure and simple.

It is high time that both levels of government, federal and provincial, get together and co-author some blanket legislation to curb the blatant price gouging done by the profiteering oil companies.

The already overburdened taxpayer deserves no less.
