A geographical area that a person can drive boundary to boundary in five minutes and has a populace of approximately 8,000 does not require more than five councillors, including the mayor.
This was made abundantly clear with a 76 per cent ‘no’ vote in 2008 on the issue. I don’t really care if it won’t cost much to ask the question in the next municipal election, it is a lame, stick-in-the-mud, waste of time to even think about it.
If that is the best Qualicum Beach Mayor Teunis Westbroek can come up with, then it’s time for that same 76 per cent of Qualicum Beach voters to realize a long-overdue change is required.
