I am fed up listening to the Chamber of Commerce cries for subsidies and the fact they seem to get what they want somehow.
The recent cry is to allow developers to avoid the true cost of services such as sewer, water, roads, lights etc.. It was stated that Parksville will be one of the top 10 cities to charge these costs, if they go ahead with the increase necessary to be revenue neutral.
I suggest if you want to live in one of the 10 best places to live you should be ready to pay for it. We already subsidize business water costs and they use most of it during the restricted time for the rest of the taxpayers. Do we even want anymore development? Water is a problem, the businesses will not be paying the full amount of their share of the treatment plant for six years.
