Rail safety concerns don’t make sense

Re: Is this the end of the line? April 9.

The word is out that E&N railway is not safe enough for a one-car passenger train. This is supposedly because of rail-tie failure.

Yet, everyday, it still can handle the weight of two engine units, a freight car or two and two to four tanker cars full of highly explosive gas. These go from one end of Nanaimo to the other right through the heart of the old city. But that is safe?

These tracks were completed 10 years ago by B.C. Rail crews by replacing all the ties needed.

I think that inspector should be inspected.
