Raking is a quiet sport

I do have a push mower

In response to the writer who claims labour saving devices create noise (Letters, Nov. 6). I will admit that I do have a push mower and I do rake. My driveway doesn’t get much moss and if it does, a manual scraper works wonders.

As a matter of interest, of the 11 houses on the block seven have push mowers.

Maybe we are all Luddites but I do know that walking around a lawn chasing leaves is no more effortless than using a rake. And table saws don’t create nearly the noise of a high powered leaf blower blasting away for almost an hour. And that last leaf that was being chased is back on the lawn.
