Editor, The Times:
I am writing in response to your editorial titled “Researching the disaster that created Clearwater’s Townsite” in the March 24 issue of the Times.
I am constantly surprised and puzzled by the process of development. Not long ago the feasibility of creating a UNESCO Global Geopark around the unique geological features in our backyard was frequently in the news. As I understand it, some interest was created and the process was moved on to consultants and the government level.
With no updated information about the process feedback to the general public on a regular basis, it is easy for me to slip into an attitude of imagining the project is moving forward.
My questions are: Is the government doing all it can do with regards to the Geopark project? What recommendations have the consultants made? Who is spearheading the cause? And how can the people of the North Thompson Valley continue to express their support for the project?
Thank you, Keith, for bringing the concerns for this project back to the public through your editorial. Thank you also for teaching me a new word.
