Did anyone put any thought into the new recycling program?
I just had my child’s birthday. You know that window that you can see the Barbie or the car through? You are now expecting me and every other parent throughout the province to remove that and put it into the plastic bin and take the rest of the carton and place it in the paper bin.
How about the box of spaghetti with the same plastic window? Same thing, take out the window and put it in the plastic bin and the rest of the carton in the paper bin.
I know I am a bit particular but I spent 45 minutes one night organizing my recycling bins.
I have my kids throw what is recycling into the bucket, to teach them early recycling habits and now I have to go behind them and make sure they have put it in the correct bin, which I have labelled.
My bins have to be under cover (my blue bags got filled and thrown outside) as I cannot leave them in the elements for the rain, sun and wind combination will be sure to attract every insect in the province. What now, we have a west Nile outbreak?
No wheels or lids, seriously? I am as fit and strong and capable as they come and the bin is heavy after two weeks of newspaper and other cardboard materials?
How are the elderly and disabled suppose to handle this? No wheels and no lids, hummm? Please think this over. The harder and more inconvenient you make this recycling program, the less people will utilize and comply.
