Editor: The shooting of a bear in Willoughby did not have to happen. Conservation and police officers knew for at least six days that this young bear was wandering around Langley.
Originally, this bear wasn’t causing any problems. If it had been tranquilized and relocated days earlier, it would not have been laying dead in the middle of the street. It is very sad that more effort isn’t put into relocating, rather than killing.
