If you want to play you have to pay.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) claims their motto is Faster, Higher, Stronger. T
That might have been applicable in the old days, but the modern-day motto should be: If You Want to Play You Have to Pay.
Many people must be wondering if the Olympic Games are worth the multi-billion dollar price tag. IOC officials think so. Corporate sponsors think so. Sport jocks think so. Portly pom-pom waving politicians think so. Even couch potatoes think so.
If Canadians want to immerse themselves in those fleeting feel-good moments of glorious patriotic medalling bliss, then taxpayers must be prepared to shell out big bucks to help our athletes.
In spite of the outrageous expense, I prefer seeing young people participating in an Olympic foot race rather than in a military arms race.
