Kudos to The Leader for bringing this issue to the attention of the people (great job).
It just goes to show that once again Surrey has no backbone. They should have caught this disaster long before it happened. Far too often the bylaw people are not doing their enforcement job. And the mayor keeps giving us lip service, much like the secondary suite situation in Surrey: no enforcement.
Al the people involved with this travesty should be charged and fined and should not be allowed to go forward with their application until all the necessary trees have been replanted and matured. Then and only then should the owner be allowed to proceed with the development under city supervision.
Further, it is time that the people who issue these permits be checked out to see if they are getting any motivation to approve these permits.
Let’s put some backbone into our leaders and start getting Surrey’s reputation out of the toilet and back to where we are a place people want to live and not be laughed at.
