On behalf of The War Amps, I would like to thank Cara Brady for her excellent article on local resident Jackson Point and his attendance at our recent BC Child Amputee (CHAMP) Seminar.
Seminars are life-changing events for young amputees like Jackson. Not only are they an opportunity to meet other amputees, they also provide information on the latest developments in artificial limbs and a forum for Champs and their parents to share concerns and advice. Counselling sessions tackle topics such as keeping active, body image, and handling teasing and staring.
In keeping with our amputees helping amputees tradition, Jackson will, in turn, help younger Champs.
Articles like this certainly help to inform the public of the resources and programs available if they should ever need the support, as well as how their donations are spent. Your coverage will go a long way in helping to spread the word.
