Residential area plagued by speeders

Humpback Road area needs patrolling by RCMP, reader writes

The village of Goldstream faces an increasing menace, as the Humpback Road ‘racetrack’ is used as a shortcut from Sooke Road to the Trans-Canada Highway and vice versa.

There are many elderly retired people with walkers, babies in prams, youngsters on skateboards, many dogs being walked, all negotiating rows of huge pines in this village. Yet there are young maniacs and old, trucks by the dozen, many chatting on cellphones as they fish-tail in front of Ma Miller’s Pub, accelerating southward past the 30 kilometre an hour sign, or racing north to the stop sign at Sooke Lake Road, most going through without a complete stop.

The community bus stops for an average of 10 seconds at Ma Miller’s, yet impatient idiots kick up clouds of dust as they go around the bus. When will the police do some spot checks on Humpback?

Do we need to wait ‘til there is a fatality?
