I must say that I am totally disgusted, appalled and disappointed in the behaviour of some of the ‘fans’ at the final Stanley Cup game last week. It’s bad enough that there were a few core groups that were intent on causing mayhem, whether the Canucks won or lost, but for those who insisted on making it difficult for the police and fire fighters to attend to the destruction being caused by those core groups is almost as bad.
The media was there to cover the event but those of you who were intent on getting the ‘best shot’ for ‘social media’ did no one any favours by hanging around and ‘just by being there taking pictures’ encouraging those core groups to continue with their destructive behaviour.
It’s a sad day for Vancouver. Sad that we lost the Cup, but even more sad that ‘lookyloos’ looking for the best shot fueled the flames. Whether you were a member of one of the core groups or a ‘social media fan’ neither of you have done any favours for the reputation of Vancouver.
