Road painting

Re: the well justified letters regarding the sorry state of paint lines on city roads this spring it was great to see the work started on

Having listened to the well justified letters to the editor in The Morning Star regarding the sorry state of paint lines on Vernon city roads this spring it was great to see the work started on reapplying the paint to our roads in town.

The work started in May, it is now July, and by no way have all the lines been reapplied.

The lines that are, are once again almost invisible, there are lines that are “short” one metre of the length of the previous lines, in some areas the stripes on crosswalks are missing at least one “stripe” – so who is checking this and just who is profiting from this?

This is not only in our area, but we are noticing it all over town.

The yellow paint seems to be standing up, it is the white paint that is hitting a huge failing grade.

We phoned City Works  yard to speak to the person in charge of the contract for the road painting, the person on the answering desk made some comment about using paint which is environmentally safe.

We cannot help but notice that the paint on the Highways is standing up to the traffic wear and tear well.

What is so special about the paint they use that the City of Vernon cannot use the same paint?

Our phone message we left for the person responsible for the painting, to date, has not been returned.

I think it is high time that someone, somewhere in City Hall is held to account for this and that an investigation into the cost and lack of efficiency of the job should be held accountable to someone.
