Roses and Raspberries

Various people in the community send a rose or raspberry, in written form, to others, praising them or scolding them.

On behalf of the tenants and residents of the Williams Lake Seniors Village I would like to send many very deserving bouquets of roses to those who made the annual Draft Horse Day another great success.

Bouquets go out to the Williams Lake Draft Horse Association, Beamac (which supplied hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks for 150 seniors and helpers on this day) Tolko’s 10-year Club, which did all the cooking, the Williams Lake Lions Club (which supplied tables and chairs), Rosetta Paxton and Gwen Cyr who brought it all together with their music, Community Police for making sure the roads were safe, all of the fantastic volunteers who make a huge difference in how smoothly an event of this scale runs, the staff of the Williams Lake Seniors Village who also gave of their time on their day off and last but not least the recreation staff who put in extra efforts to make this event come together.

The efforts of all of the above are so worth it when you see the enjoyment the seniors get out of an event such as this!

Big thanks to Dodge for sending a tow truck and replacement vehicle for myself and my family when we were broken down on Highway 97 on the long weekend.

A big bouquet of roses to the Thunder Mountain Speedway staff for a great weekend of races.

We were working at the spectators gate and we had fun.

Particular thanks to Marius and Lynn Dunford for a job well done (as always).

Also we would particularly like to acknowledge the young lady who was our runner, doing all kinds of jobs for us!

As well, an acknowledgement of excellence should be passed along to the concession. We have never eaten a better burger at any function.

We would also like to thank the announcer at the races for his assistance.

To all of the other people working behind the scenes, you all rock. Job well done!

A special thank you and a big bunch of roses to our sponsors M&M Meat Shops, Taylor Made Cakes, Ron Ridley Rentals and to everyone who came out to support the Hough Memorial Cancer Society’s 40th Anniversary Barbecue at M&M Meat Shops’ parking lot on parade day.

It was a huge success!
