• A wheelie chair covered in roses to the wonderful nurse at the Guildford Recreation Centre vaccination clinic, who, when I mentioned how scared I was, started asking me about school and gave me the shot as we were talking. I was too wound up to thank you then, but I really appreciate the kindness of the distraction that you provided. Thank you.
• Roses to the Surrey city council for the 84th Avenue extension plan that took great consideration to the park visitors and also the two temples of worship in the area. A great balance of progress and planning went into this to keep everyone’s concerns in mind.
• An orchard of red roses to Dr. Bonnie Henry for guiding us through this pandemic. All B.C. residents should be thankful. Her guidance kept us from complete lockdowns like we see in so many other provinces and countries.
• Rotten tomatoes to Surrey’s mayor and his four councillors. A five per cent fine on late or unpaid water bills, when the January bill never even arrived. Turning down Surrey Connect councillors’ request to provide temporary property tax relief. Surrey continuing with a five per cent penalty in July and another five per cent in September. Doesn’t Surrey already have huge savings from shutting down our pools, recreation centres and libraries? This mayor doesn’t care about Surrey residents.
