‘Royal’ prefix for army, air force richly deserved

These join the many “Royals” that precede the names of many of our finest regiments in the Canadian army, as well as the RCMP.

Editor: I anticipate some derogatory remarks concerning the re-adoption of “Royal” as the prefix to our Canadian air force and navy.

Having served with the Royal 22 Regiment, jumped out of aircraft flown by the Royal Canadian Air Force and been escorted by ship of the Royal Canadian Navy, I am delighted to see the emergence of “Royal” in the names of those two proud forces.

These join the many “Royals” that precede the names of many of our finest regiments in the Canadian army, as well as the RCMP.
